In today’s ever changing world, it is essential that we continue to learn about ourselves and others. LGBT Race & Cultural Competency Training Sessions offer educational opportunities in a group setting to do just that.

LGBT Race & Cultural Competency Training is a workshop designed to increase an audience’s ability to interact effectively with LGBT people putting into consideration race and culture. LGBT Race & Cultural competence comprises four components:
Developing LGBT racial & cultural competence results in an ability to understand, communicate with, and effectively interact with people across all races and cultures that identify as LGBT.
Training on harassment and discrimination prevention is critical to set clear rules and to establish important legal protections. But to remain competitive in today’s inclusive and global workplace, organizations must also focus on their LGBT persons while considering race and culture and the ability of employees to effectively collaborate. In a inclusive workplace, equipping employees to deal with issues with effective training allows them to navigate the complexities of the modern workplace.

A panel discussion is a casual setting primarily used for general information and life experience sharing. Our panels typically consist of a representative of the primary letters in the LGBT acronym (a Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender member of our community), who give a brief introduction on either the chosen topic or their coming out story. The floor is then opened up to the audience who are invited to ask questions of specific members or of the group at large.
Panel discussions can last from an hour to two hours in length and can feature as few or as many of the different facets of the LGBT+ community as desired.
Themes can be as simple as “Life as an LGBT+ individual” or as specific as “LGBT youth homelessness” We will do our best to work with you to find the right theme for your group and to provide the perfect panelists.
This program has a more educational bent to it and focuses on important (but often overlooked) historical figures who were part of the LGBT community.
We also offer a timeline summary of LGBT rights which focuses on the United States and the journey of the LGBT movement over the past hundred years.If desired, our staff can offer a more in-depth look at one influential figure such as Harvey Milk as a lead in to Harvey Milk day etc. Sessions can last as little as forty-five minutes or as long as an hour and work well when paired with a panel discussion.
This program can be a stand alone or a mix of the above options and will educate the audience on what it is like to be a LGBT+ person in today’s culture. With video, role playing, and word games, the session typically lasts from forty-five minutes to an hour and a half. We strongly recommend a panel discussion to follow the Day In The Life program to round out the experience.
