As soon as South Korean Pop Artist “PSY” brought his energetic and explosive Kpop single, “Gangnum Style” to the dance audience, it become a internationally known sensation selling millions of singles to become certified double platinum, gaining a great fan base, and displaying his moves on numerous shows and making public appearances.

Psy has done more than bring a catchy song to America and beyond, he has brought a positive spotlight on the Asian community that should be seen more often not just in America, but in mainstream media overall.

Just recognizing the racial statistics taken for the past election of the re-elected president, White/Caucasian, Latino/Hispanics, and African American percentages are acknowledged everywhere, but where is the Asian percentage? We have become so comfortable with sticking Asian Americans in the “Model Minority” category; maybe we as a society just forget that they are their own race and culture.

Asian Americans continue to be a forgotten race in America and this is even more prominent in the LGBT community, because there is not enough attention given to the Asian community relating to LGBT content. Until we as a society, as well as Asian Americans, stand up and be heard we may continue to see less representation of Asian Americans in the media including LGBT Asian Americans.
