The year of 2012 was filled with LGBT news from gay marriage legalization in a few more states to even more recognition for equality for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender community in all areas of civil rights purposes. Looking back on the LGBT community in 2012 just shows that we as a community are growing stronger and better each and every year, but we still have so much more to accomplish. Hopefully LGBTCollege can bring more awareness and provide topics for conversation and action for the LGBT community to focus more on involving all racial and cultural individuals who are LGBT into the experience as well.

LGBTCollege was born out of frustration with not seeing enough equality in a community that consistently expresses more equality for all. It was also something that came out of a passionate social worker that needed to bring awareness to something that many may not focus on and may not care too much about. As the three core values of LGBTCollege, education, expression, and celebration means so much to a person. Having the opportunity to be able to educate and learn from experiences and others and to be able to pass on that education. Having the freedom to express ones self and not be afraid of what others and society thinks. Having the awareness to be so proud of who you are as a person to celebrate that success of awareness. Even though it is still a new site, there is so much more it can be and it will reach a potential greater than ever in 2013.
