When I found out that Logo and OUTtv were premiering a series about a diverse group of friends who are a mixture of sexuality, race, and culture, I knew this would be a great step in the right direction for more LGBT of color to be featured in mainstream media and entertainment.

Logo and OUTtv’s new scripted series, “DownTown Los Angeles (DTLA)” is a Kickstarter project brought to mainstream television and premiered Wednesday October 24, 2012. The series was created, directed and executive produced by “The L Word‘s” Larry Kennar and the series stars Darryl Stephens from “Noah’s Arc” fame.

The television show brings a fresh face to a diverse cast, not just in ethnicity and sexual orientation, but also in acting experience, and the fact that it was a successful Kickstarter project shows that the public wants to see more shades of color on television and to show that talent comes in many forms and fashions.

While some critics believe the first episode was a bit confusing, it is just the beginning of the story of these friends in Downtown Los Angles (DTLA).
